The Pastel Gallery
| My pastels are quite different to my drawings in that
I did/do not have years of experience and learned strategies
with the medium. Each time I pick up a pastel I
feel like I am on a voyage of discovery, like I'm lost
and I don't know what the outcome will be. I think
the result is a much more free emotive state during the
process and a greater willingness to experiment and "make
it up". |
| The pastels are deceptively representational in that
they appear to be straight drawing of landscape or other
subject matter, but it's only when one see's the large
original (and they are large...) that the poetic license
I take regarding colour and shape become obvious. |
